The Kofi Annan Foundation was created in Switzerland in 2007 by the late former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan. Aligned with Kofi Annan strong belief in the importance of youth leadership, the foundation has build the Kofi Annan Changemakers: an inter generational dialogue for impact initiative, during which each year a select group of twelve young leaders and changemakers are recognized and come together to strengthen their leadership/capacities abilities and to tackle todays world issues.

Afolayan has been involved with the WYPW since 2018 and has led with his team since then, the development of dozens of WYPW chapters around the world. His vision is to contribute to actualizing international cooperation of young water professionals, who could promote sustainable dialogues and actions that would birth a new era of water response globally.

This honorary recognition will allow him, along the 11 other changemakers, to interact with worlds leaders from the high level network of Kofi Annan, and the Kofi Annan Foundation, searching for innovative ways to tackle today’s issues by building their capacity for positive action
