Hasmik Barseghyan

Description

Hasmik is the newly elected President of the European Youth Parliament for Water, which she participated in last November, in Nizhy Novgorod, Russia and she remains grateful for that experience.

I feel a great responsibility towards my role as President – they entrusted me with their voices and dreams

She believes her role, as the new President of the EYPW, to be to help her fellow delegates to continue working on the projects that they proposed – for her, the Parliament offers a vast network of youth involved in water. By using that network, they can further reinforce their capacities.

Her participation in the Parliament was a great opportunity to learn, discuss and present new ideas. In

Hearing different perspectives from multiple parts of the work is something that Hasmik reaches for – she’s earned three degree in three different countries. She now specializes in solar energy, with a strong background in energy management.

She aims to hold an holistic view of energy management, and her time at the EYPW offered new perspectives on water management where, through the different workshops, she had the opportunity to hear from experts working in the water sector.

She has just finished working on  a solar energy project that, through the promotion of sustainable energy, funded ecotourism initiatives in Armenia.

Hasmik is now working on Green Skills for Youth, a project of Women in Climate and Energy, co-funded by the PNUD. They aim to raise awareness with youth through hands-on workshops with schoolchildren, in which they audit their school’s energy efficiency. Their goal is to instill in youth a green technology culture.
