UK Youth Parliament for Water

United Kingdom

Since 2021

Objective

The UKYPW aims to bring together young water activists/leaders from across the nation to discuss water issues affecting the UK. The UKYPW is committed to working towards equity regarding safe and secure access to drinking water. As part of this goal, the UKYPW is interested in international joint projects. The UKYPW recognises and respects the fact that youth advocacy plays a key role in solving water issues. By bringing together young people from across the country (spanning different communities and backgrounds) we are sure that the UKYPW can help influence policy towards a more sustainable and secure future.

Key actions

The UKYPW aims to have youth water activists representing the UKYPW on a variety of different platforms. So far we have been able to connect with 'The all party parliamentary group on water' and we will be having a video showcasing our work and aims at COP26. In the future, we would like more young people be involved with water issues on a local council level. Furthermore, we are looking to get involved with Rights of Nature movements within the UK in order to campaign for vulnerable bodies of water within the UK to be protected under environmental personhood.
