Description

The European Youth Parliament for Water joins the World Water Quality Alliance

Since October 2020, tThe European Youth Parliament for Water (EYPW) has joined the World Water Quality Alliance (WWQA), a global expert network launched in September 2019, by the United Nations’ Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission. The WWQA brings together a wide range of expertise in fields of water quality science, technology innovation, governance and diplomacy to seek solutions, to translate science on water quality into action.

The EYPW is involved in the WWQA as core team members of the “Social Engagement Platform”. In this framework efforts are underway to create a mutual trust between all social sectors leading to a broad awareness of global and local water issues. More concretely, the Social Engagement platform encourages and supports the development of “Local Water Forums”, a working platform bringing together various stakeholders at the local level and who wish to engage on concrete issues related to water quality.

Furthermore, and together with the Wetskills foundation, also core member of the WWQA’s Social engagement platform, the EYPW initiated a new “Youth Engagement” work stream under WWQA to further increase youth involvement in this multi-stakeholder platform.
